Schwinn Double Stroller

Schwinn is most well known for bikes but they do have a few lines of strollers. And for athletic and active families with twins or two young kids who both need a ride at the same time, they also offer a fixed wheel and swivel wheel double stroller. In this article I’ll be taking a look at the 2009 Free Wheeler Double.

Right off the top let me say that this is one of the least expensive options in double strollers. It has a MSRP of $329. It’s going to give you every standard feature but not a whole lot of extras. And frankly for a lot of situations, that is all you need. Some of the frills and features in other models aren’t always that necessary. So it’s good to know that there are some companies willing to simply provide a good quality basic model. Let’s look at some more details.

The Schwinn Free Wheeler Double actually has a 12 inch swivel wheel up front and 16 inch wheels in the rear. The rear wheels are also on a suspension system to keep the bumps and rough terrain separate as much as possible from the passengers in your stroller. There is a under seat basket and also a tray for the parent to stop to put some things on a flat surface as needed.

This product does an amazing job of folding down into a very compact space. If you are concerned about limited space in your vehicle for a double stroller, you can be comforted here knowing that it folds into a manageable volume. Folded dimensions according to the company are 32 wide x 34 deep x 20.5 height. When fully operational the dimensions are 32w x 54d x 42h.

The canopy is just a one piece unit that will cover both seats. So you are not going to get individual coverage for each child separately. The seats also are in a static semi-reclined position but they do hold up to one hundred pounds in total between them. You’re looking at a total weight of around 33 pounds to move this stroller in and out of the car. This double stroller does have a five year limited warranty.

So it’s a tradeoff between some additional features and a price savings of anywhere from one to two hundred dollars or more between the Free Wheeler and some other higher-priced options. If you think you would rarely use individual canopies, reclining seats, bumper bars and other features, than this may be the right choice for you. Other jogging double strollers include the BOB Duallie and Baby Jogger City Elite. No matter what you pick, all of these are pretty decent quality and provide adequate safety, comfort and support for the children.
