Phil and Teds Stroller – The Twin
Phils and Ted’s is a very clever line of strollers that is doing a nice job of marketing to new moms and all their friends as well. In the world of double strollers they have a model called simply the twin. The twin also fits through standard doors as it has a “narrow gauge”. It’s got the dual swivel front wheels that are not quite as large as other competitor models, but it will certainly be a smooth ride. There are no shock absorbers like jogging strollers. But that’s not what they are directly trying to compete against in my view.
The twin also has a seat, an ezy seat as they have trademarked, that clicks into three positions from upright down to flat. Of course for the double stroller there are two seats which are independently adjustable. The standard 5-point safety harness in nearly all products now is here as well. An adjustable handle for different heights and canopies to shield the riders’ faces round out this stroller.
It is a fairly minimalistic modern and clean look. It also at this time is coming in just one color – a very bright candy apple red. Some of the older models may also come in black. It is a fairly heavy model at thirty six pounds. Especially considering it doesn’t have a whole load of compartments and features. The seat pads are also washable and the frame can hold a total of eighty eight pounds. Some models can go near one hundred. But this should still be plenty for a couple of toddlers and beyond without problem.
It also appears that this stroller has a long distance between the seat and the top of the canopy. This can give a longer life to the stroller as a taller child could sit comfortably and not have his or her face on the fabric. Always a plus. On the other end of the spectrum, this minimalist look may not have the full sturdy and hard-wearing capability that other double strollers in this price point have. This is not speaking from experience however, as I do not know anyone who has used this for an extended time to truly test out the wearability and longevity of the product. Like always, the best advice is to really shop around and test these in person too.
This New Zealand company is definitely an up and coming one. They have achieved tremendous growth in the last decade from their stroller line. They have their own style and attitude and are winning over a lot of parents with their models. The twin retails for around $600.
